» Infrared Communication between ToysHello, I'm re-listing this question, because I wanted to change the way in which it was asked. This is my first time asking a question, so hopefully no one minds. (original question: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=317698) As for the question; I'm looking for legal proof that the idea of two-way infrared communication between toys was around before April 1 of 1996. This could be in the form of a published paper, an article in a science journal, a magazine piece, or even a website. It simply must describe two or more toys communicating via infrared transmission, in order to bring about an action/reaction in each other. The following article, accepted for publication April 4th, 1996, describes an idea for...... - 2010-03-14

» IBF1.3 > VB
I'm currently running IBF 1.3 on my company site and although I have read there is no converter for IBF 1.3 to VB I would like to know what does everyone suggest I do to make the move to VB WITHOUT losing any data or posts. There is an import script for vB 2.3.4. The importers for vB3 are currently under development. So you are saying there IS a converter for IBF 1.3? And if I purcahsed whould vB 2.3.4 be avaiable for download? Assuming it is, then I could just upgrade to a newer version of vB after I converted all my IBF data over?Technically it has been tested up to IPB 1.2, but I have seen posts from some customers that have used this successfuly on version 1.3. And right now, customers can download both 2.3.4 and RC4 versions.Basic...... - 2010-03-14

» These days, what's a "good" income?
How much would you say it takes a year to live comfortably in a nice city apartment, drive a new car, pay all your bills, and still have some to put off to the side? That is one difficult question to answer due to cost in different cities... In most, however... A job of about $65K to $75K would be required to comfortably have what you are describing above. That depends almost entirely on which city (and which region of the country) and what the average cost of housing is in that area. You could live like a queen in Little Rock on $60K, but you'd barely scrape by on that income in Manhattan.I have no idea, I'm trying to find the american dream just like you. I wish you the best of luck. One, Pat 60k to 75k sound nice60k...... - 2010-03-14

Something Elizabeth said in another thread (http://www.jref.com/forum/showpost.php?p=460491&postcount=24) reminded me of another question that I wanted to ask here. I suppose this might be more of a cultural question than a { one, though. A few weeks ago, a Japanese acquaintance of mine (an older guy) said that his brother had died. I was totally lost for an appropriate response. ("݂܂H ߂ȂH No good, just inappropriate literal translations. ςȂƂł傤H Argh!") Only where there's a wi-fi connection, like at your house, or in some cities. It's great, buy it! I have one, and it rocks. It's worth the money. That men who are attracted to men have brains similar to women who are attracted to men; close to symmetrical, in the meantime, men and women who are attracted to women have brains with a slightly larger right hemisphere. » Two chemistry questions:?
a) Why is the concept of molar volume useful for gases, but not liquids or solids? b) What is the molar gas volume at 275 degrees celsius and 952 torr?1) Solids and liquids take up definite amounts of volume with a constant amount of mass to volume (density), but gases can exist at many pressures in identical volumes. For example, if you us a tank with O2 for scuba diving, you'll notice after you use it that the volume has remained the same, but the pressure has greatly decreased. This is true for any gas because intermolecular attractions do not apply to gasses because of the vast distance between particles. Once that distance becomes too short you start forming liquids and solids. 2) KNOW THIS EQUATION BY HEART! PV = nRT Ma...... - 2010-03-14

My boyfriend is a 21 year old baseball player, he does not smoke and is in good shape. He is in the fire academy right now and he took a spirometer test for his physical. He was told he had the lung capacity of a 49 year old. He went to the doctor and the doctor basically told him that since he had not been clinically diagnosed with asthma or a lung disease in the past he was not going to do any tests and told him to just re-take the test in a few weeks. What this doctor didn't seem to understand was that if my boyfriend re-takes this test in a few weeks and fails it, his firefighting career is over before it begins. » trains
Trains with more than one engine at the front often seem to have at least one engine facing backward, so that it apparently runs in reverse. What purpose is served by this?To pull it when the train needs to "turn around" and head in the other direction, silly! Actually, it's a bit more complex - well, not really. The other locomotive pushes the train. You usally see this on long freight trains, and you sometimes even see a locomotive in the middle of the train. This is done to reduce tendency to stall, especially on a grade, allows the train to stop quicker, and also reduces the forces on the couplings, meaning longer lasting freight cars. » How can we define being alive?
From what I read I could say fire is alive It regenerates it creates other fires it grows it intake energy and breaths so how can we define life?Consciousness, to be conscious. There are various theories regarding consciousness. In Bhagavad-gitä the example of the sun and the sunshine is given. As the sun is situated in one place but is illuminating the whole universe, so a small particle of spirit soul, although situated in the heart of this body, is illuminating the whole body by consciousness. Thus consciousness is the proof of the presence of the soul, as sunshine or light is the proof of the presence of the sun. When the soul is present in the body, there is consciousness all over the body, and as soon as the soul has passed from t...... - 2010-03-14

Now to the problem: I also want a line to grow depending on the value of deadline. » Nikon 18-200mm AF-S f/3.5-5.6 and Weddings
Well, I was wandering if this lense would make a good wedding/ portrait lens. If anyone has used it or heard anything about it, I would love to hear what you have to say. Also, I have the D40 and now that I am learning more I am wandering if I may want to upgrade to say a D80 or D200? I will first be getting a good lens like the one in question but for shooting weddings and portraits I was wandering if I would be better off getting a D80 body to go with the new lens and use the D40 as a backup? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated:)First of all DO NOT BUY THAT LENS!!!!. If you are seriously considering charging people to shoot their weddings you will be doing them a serious dis-service if you use that lens. Second if as I pre...... - 2010-03-14

» What feminists said we should close women's prisons? What feminists on here think we ought to do do this ?
I would be totally against the idea. Prisons exist because criminals exist (regardless of gender, criminals need to be locked up). I am curious though, what feminists have actually made this proposal? I have never heard of anyone saying this. The UK government is planning to shut down all women s prisons http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/52370... "A programme of women's prison closures should begin in an attempt to reduce re-offending, a lobby group has said. League director Frances Crook said she hoped this would provide the impetus for the government to reduce the women's prison population, so only the very few who posed a danger to the public remained in custody."If anything I think more people should be sent to priso...... - 2010-03-14

» Need help with teleconverters!
Which teleconverter should I buy for a nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI? Helo please! Thanks everyone! 1.4 or 2x are fine, I just don't know which brands are best, etc. CraigKeep in mind that teleconverter are used at the expense of light. A 2X TC will cost you about two stops of light. So with a maximum aperture of 4.5, you would lose two stops and be at about F8. Auto focus will most likely not work and the viewfinder would be pretty dark.Which teleconverter should I buy for a nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI? Craig Buy the best - the TC that is optimized for this lens. That would be a Nikon TC-14B (outrageously expensive new, but very reasonable used). Certainly RGB can produce subtleties of it's own? Should we master greyscale before moving to RGB? Personally; If there is even a hint of colour I go RGB. That puts my work at 90% colour and 10% bw. » Bird flu still a threat 10 years after leap to humans
In Hong Kong, when a mysterious avian flu virus jumped from poultry to people for the first time, killing six of the 18 people infected, world health experts sounded the alarm. They warned that the stage was set for a global flu pandemic. That was 10 years ago, and the virus, known as H5N1, has not yet changed in a way that would allow it to spread easily from person to person. But health experts say the danger has not diminished. "It is still a threat as long as we have transmission in poultry," says flu expert Arnold Monto of the University of Michigan. "We have absolutely no precedent of having had this transmit in the bird population in so many different places, and having, almost every week, reports of another human case." Among...... - 2010-03-14
